RelyOn, the world’s largest provider of safety and competence training for the renewable energy, offshore oil and gas, and maritime industries, acquired Develop Training in November 2024—marking a significant step in its expansion into new markets, including the food and drink sector.
This acquisition has enabled RelyOn to broaden its offering of short-course training, positioning the company to better serve the evolving needs of the UK’s electrical, utility infrastructure, and manufacturing sectors. New additions to RelyOn’s already extensive portfolio include courses in electrical and mechanical safety, water systems, and general health and safety.
Develop customers now benefit from access to RelyOn’s growing suite of digital learning content. This includes legionella awareness and a full range of electrical courses, all powered by RelyOn’s innovative adaptive digital learning platform. The company also offers a comprehensive ‘Business Essentials’ e-learning package covering topics such as cybersecurity, GDPR, and fire awareness.
Speaking of the acquisition, Paul Alexander, UK Commercial Director at RelyOn, said:
“This acquisition plays an important role in our strategic journey, enabling RelyOn to move into new sectors and strengthen our electrical training offering. These new courses fit seamlessly into our existing portfolio, allowing us to deliver industry-leading training to any organisation where workforce safety is a priority. We look forward to building strong relationships in sectors as diverse as food and drink, healthcare, facilities management, and data centres.”
RelyOn has also expanded its national training network, adding four new centres—in Derby, York, Swindon, and Brentwood—to its existing sites in Liverpool, Teesside, and Aberdeen. Further growth followed in March 2025 with the acquisition of Clyde Training, bringing a Glasgow location and further strengthening RelyOn’s UK presence.
