Wigan & Leigh College has been providing high-quality education and training locally for over 160 years and higher education for over 70 years.

The college is supporting a number of apprenticeship opportunities as well as traineeship programmes for young people and adult learners seeking to work in the food and manufacturing industry. Bespoke training programmes are also being offered for current food manufacturing engineers to allow them to re-train and potentially gain higher level positions.

We have a dedicated Centre of Excellence in Engineering facility that provides purpose built workshops and specific equipment in-line with the food manufacturing industry, this allows us to deliver programmes and qualifications with the aim of upskilling a local workforce.

We are delighted to have joined the National Skills Academy and be working closely with them and our employer partners to provide a quality provision for the food and drink sector to meet the skills needs of our local community.
