20 food & drink businesses met last week, Thursday 19th October, to discuss the impact of the apprenticeship levy 6 months on from its implementation.
Attendees heard presentations from fellow employers around being an employer provider, best practice apprenticeship implementation and collaborative working, as well as reviewing the ‘visions of the future’ they put together prior to the levy implementation.
Louise Codling, NSAFD Head of Business Delivery said, “It has been a really useful opportunity to look back at the visions of success and visions of failure companies had prior to the implementation of the levy and what has actually happened. The good news is, many of the fears have proved unfounded but there have been a number of surprises too; especially the length of time it has taken to sort out contracting with providers”.
There was unanimous feedback from those who have contacts in other industries, that the food and drink industry appears to be further ahead than many others and that the new standards were fit for purpose and met industry needs.
We look forward to having a catch up with businesses in another 6 months to see further developments regarding the levy. Should anyone wish to be involved, please get in touch!
