4-day course leading to the HABC Level 3 Award in Education and Training
Regular and effective training is essential if high standards of food safety are to be achieved and maintained. This EAT course will provide participants with the key elements and skills required to be a successful trainer. It encourages a flexible and inclusive approach to training delivery that takes account of learners’ needs and preferences.
This Level 3 EAT qualification is aimed at those who want to develop practical training skills. It is a recognised requirement for anyone wishing to register to deliver accredited qualifications in food safety, health and safety etc. in the workplace.
It is ideal for first-time trainers who need to understand the basics of training skills and practice, or for assessors wanting to move into a training role. The EAT course is also suitable for current trainers looking to refine their techniques.
There are no formal requirements, but learners will need to demonstrate a good standard of English and Mathematics, together with a qualification and experience in the subject they wish to teach. On successful completion of this course, learners with a Level 4 Award in Food Safety, or equivalent qualification, who have relevant industry experience will be able to deliver food safety training up to Level 3.
Course Structure & Content
The Level 3 EAT course comprises three modules
- Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
- Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training
- Understanding assessment in education and training
Learners must complete the three modules to achieve the 12 credits required for the Award. This includes the planning and delivery of a 15 minute micro-teaching session, together with self and peer-assessment.
