The NSAFD is a not-for-profit organisation led by the industry for the industry, through its members and its Board of sector employers.

OUR RESPONSIBILITIES AS A SKILLS ACADEMY

National Occupational Standards (NOS)

We develop and maintain NOS. They are used as the building blocks for industry qualifications.
Working with sector specialists, we ensure that the 27 suites of NOS, that define necessary workforce knowledge and skills, remain up to date with emerging industry requirements.

APPRENTICESHIPS

We are the Standard Setting Organisation for the sector.
In England, we bring employers and expert training providers together to develop apprenticeship standards that remain consistent with industry needs.

In Scotland and Wales we are the approved certification body for apprenticeships.

Government ENGAGEMENT

As industry-led experts on skills, we act as influential advocate to the administrations of all UK nations on policy, funding and legislation relevant to skills development in food and drink manufacturing.
