Advanced Team Leader Apprenticeship

A team leader is a first line management role, with responsibilities for operational matters, a given project or for managing a team to deliver a clearly defined outcome. They provide direction, instructions and guidance to ensure the achievement of set goals. 

This minimum 12-month apprenticeship consists of:

  • Functional Skills Maths (Level 2)
  • Functional Skills English (Level 2)
  • An independent end assessment

Working in the private, public or third sector and in all sizes of organisation, specific responsibilities will vary, but the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed will be the same whatever the role.

Key responsibilities are likely to include supporting, managing and developing team members, leading projects, planning and monitoring workloads and resources, delivering operational plans, resolving problems, and building relationships internally and externally.

Progression:

Progression from this apprenticeship could be into a hospitality management position.

On completion, apprentices may choose to register as Associate members with the Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM), to support their professional career development and progression.

Entry requirements

An employer will determine their own entry requirements for an employee to commence this apprenticeship, but these general entry requirements apply; you have to be aged 16 years or over and must be working in the hospitality and catering sector for at least 30 hours a week. You also need to be a resident in England and not taking part in full-time education.
